design process
Discover
Before beginning any design project, it’s important to discover what your particular needs and challenges are. Who is your target audience? What is the primary purpose of the creative piece? You know your business better than anyone. I want to listen to your thoughts and ideas and then I’ll give you my suggestions and insights.
Define
At this point we define project specifics. For a brochure, for example, we’ll decide on the size of the piece, number of panels, number of colors, etc. For a website, we define the site map, number of sections and pages, number of templates needed, whether or not to use Flash animations, and determine if there is a need for advanced programming such as an online store or a content management system.
Proposal
Once the project has been defined, I will create a proposal based on either a fixed project price (if the scope can be defined clearly enough) or an hourly rate for an estimated range (if the project is more open ended).
Initial Design
After the proposal has been signed and a deposit received, I begin work on the initial creative work. At this stage, I deliver design concepts. In the case of a website, for example, this would be design concepts for the home page in a non-HTML format.
Design Revisions
Once a concept has been chosen and/or a focus approved, I work closely with you through additional refinement rounds.
Production
After a final design has been approved, I move forward with the layout of the print piece, or the building of the website, etc.
